On Sunday, July 4th, celebrate our independence with an expanded fireworks display and great local musical acts at Buffalo's Fourth of July Celebration at the Erie Canal Harbor - Central Wharf. The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will include children’s activities and continuous entertainment.

Update on meeting for August 12, 2009 from WBFO:
Inviting Buffalo will host a public meeting at 6'o'clock Wednesday night about the future of downtown's waterfront. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley talked to one of the organizers about the goals of this latest waterfront collaboration.
Earl Ketry owns the Pearl Street Grill in downtown Buffalo. He will host this waterfront meeting at his restaurant tonightl. Ketry is referring to their efforts to explore and act on new waterfront opportunities as the "Nautical mile"......

It will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the Central Wharf on the Erie Canal Harbor. This free-to-the-public event, brought to you by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, Buffalo Place Inc. and the City of Buffalo, will feature some of Buffalo's best talent and a fabulous fireworks display over the Buffalo River in celebration of the opening of the Erie Canal Harbor and the Independence Day holiday.

9th Annual - Buffalo River Fest
Mark your calendars for the VCA's 9th Annual “Buffalo River Fest,” which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 19 & 20, 2009. The event will be held from 5:00 p.m. to Midnight on Friday, and from 12:00 p.m. to Midnight on Saturday at Father Conway Park, located between Ohio Street and Louisiana Street in downtown Buffalo near HSBC Arena.

Boom Days Passport to Spring |

BoomDays celebrates the lifting of the Lake Erie - Niagara River Ice Boom. It is a unique way to mark the coming of spring. BoomDays commemorates our bustling waterways of days gone by and glorifies our natural, artistic and cultural wealth. BoomDays is a moveable feast and festivities extend from the Buffalo River to Old Fort Niagara. Event participants (known as Boomers) journey throughout the Buffalo/Niagara waterfront areas experiencing all that the region has to offer. |

| The sweep was a great success-we estimate that 1500 volunteers participated at 42 cleanup sites across the region. We had fabulous weather for the whole weekend. Some interesting finds include: the boom ball released at the Boom Days Festival and a Honda Goldwing motorcycle recovered from Scajaquada Creek. |

Edward M. Cotter Buffalo Waterfront's Fire Boat |

The Edward M. Cotter is currently the oldest operating fireboat in the country. It is docked on the Buffalo River at Michigan Avenue.
Buffalo's fireboat was launched in 1900 at Elizabeth, New Jersey and was know as the "William S. Grattan." The vessel had a coal fired steam plant and large, slender stacks |
